At Pyloon we strongly believe in the Free and Open Source Software ethos, this is reflected in our choice of systems that we work on. All the tools and solutions we provide are based on Open Source technologies almost exclusively. We have experienced the value of Open Source and we are positive that this gives us an edge by providing solutions to our clients at competitive prices. Therefore we have standardized on the LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/Postgresql/PHP/Python) technology stack.
The Linux operating system is our default choice for our projects. We have hands-on experience in scaling Linux systems from embedded devices to high availability clusters to suit the needs of our solutions. We are confident that Linux provides the lowest cost of ownership and flexibility such that we can meet and exceed the needs of our clients.
The Apache server is the industry standard for web servers and we have deployed it for its modularity, flexibility and security. However, we have also deployed solutions utilizing lighttpd/haproxy for extreme performance and high loads of traffic.
We have consistently worked with MySQL as our database engine for various solutions and it has constantly proven that it is an amazingly great performing SQL server with ample room for optimization and scalability. We have also deployed the Postgresql server for those solutions that are transaction critical.
The best programming language is the one most suited for each solution, that is why we are most familiar with interpreted languages such as PHP/Python for web development and rapid software development, as well as developing in the C programming language for projects that require extreme performance and/or limited in resources. We are also familiar with the C# programming languages for solutions that require it.
We believe that for clients to be satisfied with our solutions they they have to be involved in the development process from the beginning stages, that is why we have adopted the Agile software development methodology as a standard process, with a hint of the Open Source ideology of "release early, release often". This ensures that our clients are updated on the status of the project and would give feedback continuously such that once the project is delivered they will be familiar with it and satisfied.
This is just an overview of the technology we use at Pyloon which guarantees us to be the most competitive and have the least total cost of ownership for the solutions we provide.
